Employees at the Weyerhaeuser packaging plant in McAllen, Texas, turned a former old equipment “boneyard” into a bird sanctuary. They planted 14 species of trees, including Texas ebony, bottlebrush and guajillo. The trees and shrubs draw birds and butterflies while the paths attract walkers. Regular visitors include orioles, white-tipped doves, hummingbirds and mockingbirds.
