Grant Guidelines
The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation focuses its philanthropy on:
The foundation is committed to investing in the K-12 education system and increasing the work- and college-readiness of future graduates. Investments in K-12 education that fosters work force readiness will be made in the specific areas of science, technology, engineering and math (STEM). Our goal is to help strengthen the knowledge and skill development of students, and prepare them for success in higher education or the workplace.
As a company with more than 100 years of practice developing sustainable solutions and a history of innovation, Weyerhaeuser plays a unique role in contributing sustainable solutions to social and environmental problems. Through the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation, we support advancing renewable natural resources as part of sustainable solutions to community and global problems.
In addition to our areas of focus, we support broader community needs such as health and human services, arts and culture, and civic organizations in communities where Weyerhaeuser operates.
In considering requests for support, the foundation gives preference to projects and programs that:
- Serve a broad range of community residents
- Meet our key areas of focus or a key community need
- Show strong support from community leaders and other funders
- Are managed competently with a history of accountability, results, cost-effectiveness, strong leadership and innovation
Major grants are made outside a Weyerhaeuser operating area only by invitation. The foundation does not make multi-year commitments; our grants are considered one-time events.
