Growing Communities
Strong local communities benefit everyone. Families thrive, employees are better prepared for the work force, and Weyerhaeuser is able to attract and retain innovative leaders to take the company into the future.
The Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation, through its advisory committees, designates a portion of its charitable giving to community organizations working to create better places to live, work and play.
To be considered for funding by our local advisory committees, a program must serve the community within a 50-mile radius of a major Weyerhaeuser facility. If you are interested in applying for a grant, please review our map of locations.
United Way
The foundation has supported many local United Way chapters in communities where we operate to create lasting positive changes in people's lives. Annually, our support includes grants, an employee giving campaign, and loaned executives to the United Way in the Puget Sound region of Washington.
ArtsFund
In the Puget Sound region, the foundation continues to support ArtsFund. This organization strengthens the arts by raising and responsibly allocating funds to promote artistic and organizational excellence, and by advocating for the arts. Weyerhaeuser employees serve in leadership capacities on the ArtsFund board of trustees and allocation committees.
Habitat for Humanity
The foundation has partnered with Habitat for Humanity since the early 1980s. In 2005, in conjunction with the 25th anniversary of Mt. St. Helens’ eruption, Weyerhaeuser and the Weyerhaeuser Company Foundation announced a $1 million campaign to build houses for more than 25 families in 18 states and three Canadian provinces. Weyerhaeuser employee volunteers stepped up magnificently, completing 32 homes in 2006. Employee volunteers also earned grants for these projects through the foundation's Making WAVES (Weyerhaeuser Active Volunteer Employees) program.
